It is an easy-to-use FREE software program that lets you record any sounds from your sound card and save the recording directly into MP3, WMA or WAV files.

Pros: Free Sound Recorder records any sounds from the sound card and save the recording directly into MP3, WMA or WAV files. Which means a podcast, the audio from an internet video or a net radio can all be recorded into one of those formats. Free Sound Recorder is a perfect audio recorder to record your own voice, music or any other sound by working directly with your sound card. It supports the record input/source from a microphone, streaming audio from the Internet, external input devices (e.g. CDs, LP, music cassettes, phone line etc.) as well as other applications like Winamp, Media Player, etc. The recorder produces high quality recordings.

Elaborate settings allow the user to set the recording parameters exactly the way one wants it. General settings let you choose the recording format of WAV, MP3 or WMA along with output file directory/folder and recording viewing mode. File vs. quality settings, automatic gain control and voice activated recording options are some more parameters that can set. Overall volume and balance settings are available for stereo input/output.

The sound recorder comes with a graphic audio editor. Noise reduction, effects, re-sampling, time line support and ID3 tag editing are included that make it quite a sophisticated editor. With graphic editor the text editing like features are very simple.

Cons: Nothing adverse noticed.

Overall this is a 4 star application. Quite sophisticated in features, absolutely easy to use and there’s no learning time at all.

I like comparing sounds I changed using the noise filter, pop & crackle feature,equalizer, etc., then comparing it to the original: I can either keep the changed sound or the original...or make further changes.

This product worked well for what I wanted. Whats more, after installing I did a comprehensive sweep for spyware and came up
empty. Nice! It also gives you the opportunity to download and install utilities that work with the program (ie Recorder,
Ripper, format conversion, etc). For basic editing of audio files, I highly recommend.
